This is a public summary of Square Off’s approach to fraud prevention, fair play, and — where applicable — financial-crime compliance. It works alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
1. Our commitment
We operate a free-to-enter prize competition. Because players do not deposit money, the primary fraud risk on the Platform is prize abuse — not money laundering in the traditional sense. We are committed to ensuring that prizes go to real, eligible players who earn them through genuine skill-based competition, and that our ad-funded prize pool is not exploited by automated or bad-faith actors.
We also acknowledge that as prize payouts grow, we may become subject to applicable financial-crime and prize-reporting obligations, and we are actively monitoring our regulatory position as the Platform grows.
2. Prize fraud and what we prohibit
The following are prohibited and treated as serious violations of our Terms, potentially reportable to relevant authorities:
- Account farming — creating multiple accounts to earn prizes beyond per- account limits, or operating or sharing accounts with others.
- Ad-verification bypass — using bots, scripts, emulators, automation, or any other tool to simulate or skip a rewarded-ad view without genuinely watching it.
- Match-fixing and dumping — intentionally losing or colluding with an opponent to move prize credits between accounts or to a third party. We treat this as fraud regardless of the amounts involved.
- Identity misrepresentation — providing false identity, age, or location information; playing under someone else’s identity; or sharing an account.
- Location spoofing — using a VPN, proxy, or any other means to appear to be in an eligible location when you are not.
- Bug exploitation — exploiting software errors or unintended behavior to obtain prize credits you are not entitled to, rather than reporting the issue to us.
- Use for unlawful purposes — using the Platform for money laundering, fraud, or any other unlawful activity.
3. Controls we apply
- Ad-completion verification — ad views are verified server-side at the time of entry. Entries with failed or suspicious verification signals are voided.
- Device and account fingerprinting — we use technical signals to detect and link accounts that appear to belong to the same person or device cluster, and to identify automated play.
- IP and location checks — applied at every session and match entry to enforce eligibility and detect VPN or proxy use. Our geofencing is fail-closed: an unknown location is blocked.
- Behavioural monitoring — we monitor win rates, match patterns, and prize-credit velocity for signals of collusion, farming, or automation.
- Prize limits — per-account daily and period limits on prize credits earned, including practice games, cap exposure to any single account.
- Identity verification before cash-out — we may require age and identity verification before processing any gift-card redemption, and we apply manual review for accounts with unusual activity.
- Sanctions screening — accounts are screened against applicable sanctions lists at sign-up and on an ongoing basis. Access is blocked for sanctioned individuals and jurisdictions.
4. Consequences of prohibited conduct
Where we detect or reasonably suspect a violation, we may take any or all of the following actions:
- Void the affected match results and reverse any prize credits obtained;
- Suspend or permanently close the account, including all associated accounts;
- Withhold or forfeit any reward balance, to the extent permitted by law;
- Report the conduct to relevant authorities where we are required or permitted to do so;
- Pursue civil recovery of losses caused by fraudulent conduct.
5. Reporting concerns
If you suspect another player of cheating, match-fixing, or account abuse, or if you discover a bug or exploit, please report it to contact@squareoff.gg. We treat all reports in confidence and do not retaliate against good-faith reporters.
Where we are required to, we cooperate with law enforcement and regulatory requests and may be prohibited from disclosing that we have done so.
6. Prize reporting and tax
Depending on your jurisdiction and the cumulative value of prizes you earn, we may be required to report prize payments to tax authorities and to collect identifying information from you before processing a cash-out. You are solely responsible for determining and paying any taxes that apply to prizes you earn on the Platform.
