In this Policy, “Square Off”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator of the Square Off service at squareoff.gg. “Personal data” means information that identifies, or can reasonably be linked to, an individual. This Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service. Square Off is the controller responsible for your personal data. We are formalizing our corporate registration and will publish our registered entity details here once available; in the meantime you can reach us at contact@squareoff.gg.
1. Data we collect
You provide to us
- Account data — email address and authentication details (we support email and OAuth sign-in; we do not store your social-login passwords), and a display name.
- Verification data — where required for prize eligibility, identity and age information, which may be processed by specialized verification providers.
- Communications — messages you send to support and your preferences.
Generated through your use
- Gameplay data — matches played, moves and outcomes, reward-balance credits, and timestamps.
- Reward and cash-out data — reward balance, prize credits earned, and gift-card redemption records (name and email passed to our gift-card partner for fulfilment).
- Ad-interaction data — records of rewarded-ad views completed, including timestamps and verification signals. This data is used to validate free entries and prevent abuse. Our ad-technology partners may also collect data under their own privacy policies — see Section 4.
- Device and technical data — IP address, approximate location derived from it (used for eligibility checks), browser and device type, and similar diagnostic information.
- Usage and cookie data — interactions with the Platform and information from cookies and similar technologies (see Section 5).
We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. The Platform is strictly for adults.
2. How we use your data
We use personal data to:
- Create and operate your account and run matches and prize settlement;
- Verify rewarded-ad completion and prevent ad fraud, multiple-account abuse, and prize manipulation;
- Verify eligibility — age and location — and enforce geofencing and our fair-play rules;
- Process gift-card redemptions and pass the necessary information to our gift-card partner for fulfilment;
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, cheating, collusion, and abuse;
- Provide support and respond to your requests;
- Comply with legal, regulatory, and record-keeping obligations and enforce our Terms; and
- Improve and develop the Platform, and — where permitted — send you service or marketing communications you can opt out of.
3. Legal bases (where applicable)
Where data-protection laws such as the GDPR apply, we rely on: performance of a contract (to provide the Platform and settle prizes); legal obligation (age and location rules, tax, fraud prevention); legitimate interests (security, fraud detection, improving the service), balanced against your rights; and consent (for certain cookies and marketing), which you may withdraw at any time.
4. How we share data
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as needed with:
- Service providers that operate the Platform on our behalf — including hosting and edge infrastructure, our database and authentication provider, identity-verification and anti-fraud vendors, and analytics and communications tools — under contracts that limit their use of the data.
- Ad-technology partners — our rewarded-ad network receives the data needed to serve, verify, and report on ad views (such as a device identifier and IP address). These partners operate under their own privacy policies and may use data for ad measurement and targeting purposes in accordance with your consent preferences and applicable law.
- Gift-card fulfilment partner — when you redeem a cash-out, we share the name and email address needed for gift-card delivery with our gift-card provider. Their use of that data is governed by their privacy policy.
- Other players — only your display name and match results are visible to other players, for example on the leaderboard. Your contact or verification data is never shared with other players.
- Authorities and advisors — where required by law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
- In a business transfer — if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to run the Platform (for example, to keep you signed in and to keep it secure) and, where you allow it, to measure and improve usage, and to support our ad-technology partners. You can control non-essential cookies through your browser settings or any cookie controls we provide. Disabling essential cookies may stop parts of the Platform from working. For full details, see our Cookie Policy.
6. Data retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above. Account and gameplay records are retained for the life of your account and for a period afterward to meet legal, fraud-prevention, and prize-record obligations. Verification records required for prize compliance are retained for at least five years or as the law requires. When data is no longer needed, it is deleted or anonymized.
7. How we protect your data
We apply technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data, including segregating systems, limiting access on a need-to-know basis, and encrypting data in transit and at rest. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work actively to protect your data and respond appropriately to incidents.
8. International transfers
We and our service providers may process your data in countries other than your own. Where we transfer personal data across borders, we use appropriate safeguards required by law — such as standard contractual clauses or transfers to jurisdictions recognized as providing adequate protection.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you; to correct or delete it; to restrict or object to certain processing; to data portability; and to withdraw consent. Where the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, or similar laws apply, you also have specific rights — note we do not sell personal data. Some rights are limited where we must retain data to meet legal or security obligations. To exercise a right, contact us using the details below; we may need to verify your identity first. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights, and where required we honor opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control (GPC). You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
10. Automated decisions
We use automated systems to verify eligibility (age and location), detect fraud and prohibited conduct, and verify ad completion. These checks may prevent access to prize play or trigger a manual review. Where a decision producing legal or similarly significant effects about you is based solely on automated processing, you have the right — subject to applicable law — to request human review and to contest the decision by contacting us.
11. Children
The Platform is strictly for users aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have done so, we will delete that data promptly. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us immediately.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
13. Contact us
