Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these Terms

By accessing or using the Platform you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Responsible Play commitments, which are incorporated here by reference. If you are using the Platform on behalf of another person, you confirm you are authorized to bind them to these Terms.

2. Eligibility and location

To create an account and earn prizes on the Platform, you must:

• Be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction if higher;
• Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract and not be barred from doing so under any applicable law;
• Be physically located in a jurisdiction where participating in skill-based prize competitions is lawful;
• Use the Platform only for your own personal, non-commercial benefit;
• Not be located in, ordinarily resident in, or a national of any country or territory subject to comprehensive sanctions or embargoes, and not appear on any applicable sanctions or prohibited-persons list; and
• Not be currently self-excluded from the Platform or experiencing harm related to compulsive play. You agree to tell us if you enter a self-exclusion arrangement elsewhere.

Restricted jurisdictions. Prize play may not be available everywhere. We apply location checks (“geofencing”) and will block access from jurisdictions where we do not offer the service. Where your location cannot be reliably determined, we may decline prize access. Attempting to defeat these controls — for example via VPN, proxy, or false information — is a breach of these Terms and may result in forfeiture of any reward balance associated with the prohibited activity, to the extent permitted by law.

U.S. locations where prize play is available. Subject to the in-Platform location check, prize competitions are currently offered to players physically located in: Alabama, Alaska, California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.

U.S. locations where prize play is not available. We do not currently offer prize play to players physically located in: Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Louisiana, Montana, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont. You may still browse the Platform from these locations, but you may not earn or redeem prizes from them.

These lists are current as of the “Last updated” date above and may change at any time. The in-Platform location check is authoritative. You are responsible for knowing and complying with the laws that apply to you.

3. Nature of the service — free entry, skill-decided prizes

Square Off offers free-to-enter, skill-based, head-to-head competitions. No purchase is necessary and no money is required to play. Entry is obtained by completing a short rewarded-ad view — advertisers pay us to show you the ad, and we use that revenue to fund prizes. You never pay us anything to enter a match.

The outcome of every match is determined by the players’ decisions and skill, not by a random-number generator, a house edge, or luck. We never play against you. On a win, we credit your reward balance with the disclosed fixed prize; on a loss, your balance is unchanged. There is no financial risk to you: you cannot lose money on the Platform.

The prize for every competition is fixed and shown before you enter — for example, a chess match currently awards the winner $0.03 and a Connect 4 series awards the winner $0.05. Prize-credit practice games (such as vs-computer chess) award a smaller fixed amount regardless of outcome. We do not guarantee that you will win any particular match or earn any particular amount.

Skill-based prize competitions may be regulated in some jurisdictions. Nothing in these Terms is a representation that the service is lawful in your jurisdiction.

4. Accounts and security

• One account per person. You may hold only one account. Creating multiple accounts to earn additional prizes is prohibited and treated as fraud.
• You must provide accurate information and keep it current. You are responsible for all activity under your account and for keeping your credentials confidential.
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use or suspected breach of your account.
• We may require identity, age, or location verification at any time — including before processing a cash-out — and may suspend prize access until it is completed.

5. Rewarded ads and free entry

To enter a match, you must complete a rewarded-ad view before play begins. By using the Platform you agree that:

• You will watch the full ad as presented. Skipping, muting, or blocking the ad disqualifies the entry attempt.
• Ad completion is verified server-side. We may void any entry, match result, or prize where ad verification fails or where we reasonably suspect the ad was not genuinely viewed.
• You will not use ad-blocking software, automation, bots, or any other tool to bypass or simulate the ad-view requirement.
• Ad content is provided by third-party advertisers. We do not endorse or take responsibility for the content of third-party ads.
• We may limit how many rewarded entries you can earn per day or per period across all game modes, including practice games.

6. Reward balance and cash-out

When you win a prize competition, we credit the disclosed prize amount to your in-Platform reward balance. Your reward balance is a record of the prizes we owe you. It is denominated in US dollars, is not a bank deposit, does not earn interest, and is not transferable to another person. We are not a bank.

• Cash-out minimum. You may request a cash-out once your reward balance reaches $5.00. Cash-out is currently processed as a digital gift card via our third-party gift-card partner. Gift cards are subject to the issuer’s terms and conditions and have no cash value independent of those terms.
• Verification before cash-out. We may require identity or age verification before processing any cash-out, and may apply manual review, holding periods, or additional checks for fraud prevention.
• Prize credits are not deposits. You have not deposited money with us. Your reward balance represents prizes we owe you, not funds you have placed with us. Prizes credited in error may be reversed.
• Limits and adjustments. We may apply daily, weekly, or per-period prize limits per account to prevent abuse. We may reverse or withhold prize credits obtained through prohibited conduct, bugs, errors, or violations of these Terms.
• Inactive accounts. If your account stays inactive for an extended period, we may contact you and handle any remaining reward balance as permitted or required by applicable law.
• Tax. You are solely responsible for determining and paying any taxes that apply to prizes you earn on the Platform.

7. Competitions and match settlement

• When you enter a competition by completing a rewarded-ad view, the fixed prize for that competition is shown before you confirm entry. The prize and rules do not change once the match begins.
• Our servers are authoritative for game state; clients do not self-report outcomes. Matches use server-enforced rules to prevent illegal moves and cheating.
• If you disconnect, abandon, time out, or otherwise fail to complete a match, you may forfeit the match in accordance with the in-game rules.
• On settlement, the winner is credited the disclosed prize to their reward balance. Cancelled competitions are re-entered at no cost or otherwise handled at our reasonable discretion.

8. Fair play and prohibited conduct

You agree not to, and not to attempt to:

• Cheat, collude with an opponent, manipulate matchmaking or outcomes, or use bots, scripts, automation, AI or machine-learning agents, or any tool that gives an unfair advantage;
• Misrepresent or manipulate your skill or identity — including deliberately underperforming to be matched with weaker opponents — or play on an account that is not your own;
• Use a VPN, proxy, or other tool to mask or falsify your location, or use emulators, device farms, simulators, jailbroken or modified devices;
• Intentionally lose, or arrange an outcome, to transfer prize value between accounts or to any other person — match-fixing and “dumping” are prohibited;
• Create multiple accounts to farm prizes or circumvent prize limits;
• Exploit a bug, error, or unintended behavior rather than reporting it;
• Use any tool or method to bypass, simulate, or fake the rewarded-ad requirement;
• Use the Platform for fraud, money laundering, or any unlawful purpose; or
• Circumvent geofencing, age checks, or other access controls; reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Platform; or attempt unauthorized access to any system or account.

We may void affected match results, withhold or reverse prize credits obtained through prohibited conduct, suspend or close accounts, and report unlawful activity to the relevant authorities.

9. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Platform and request closure of your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, if required by law or a regulator, or to protect the Platform or other users. On termination, any undisputed reward balance you are lawfully entitled to will be made available for cash-out after applicable checks, unless forfeited under these Terms.

10. Intellectual property and license

The Platform, including its software, game logic, design, logos, and content, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Platform for its intended purpose. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

11. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

Bugs, errors, and exploits. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for any loss arising from software bugs, glitches, display errors, latency, dropped connections, or other technical malfunctions. Where a competition, result, or prize credit is affected by such an event — or by a manifest error — we may, in our reasonable discretion, void, cancel, re-run, or reverse it. Because no entry fee is charged, a re-entry opportunity or removal of the affected match is your sole and exclusive remedy.

Hacks, cheating, and security events. We are likewise not responsible for losses arising from unauthorized access, exploits, bots, collusion, account compromise, denial-of-service attacks, or other interference. We may void or reverse any competition or prize credit we reasonably believe to be affected by such conduct, and may suspend or terminate accounts involved, without liability to you.

Third-party gift cards. Gift cards are issued and fulfilled by a third-party provider under their own terms. We are not responsible for any failure, limitation, or change in the gift-card program, and we do not guarantee the continued availability of any particular gift-card issuer or denomination.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of prizes, goodwill, or data, arising out of or relating to your use of the Platform. Because the Platform is free to enter, our aggregate liability for any claim will not exceed USD 100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Square Off and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Platform, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

14. Disputes and complaints

If you believe a match was settled incorrectly or notice an error in your reward balance, contact us within 30 days at contact@squareoff.gg with the relevant details. Our server-side game logs are the primary basis for resolving disputes, and our reasonable determination will be final except where the law provides otherwise.

We aim to resolve complaints promptly through our Complaints Policy. If we cannot resolve yours to your satisfaction, you may be entitled to refer it to an alternative dispute resolution body where one is available in your country. This does not affect your statutory rights.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Square Off is established. As we finalize our corporate setup, we will confirm the governing jurisdiction and update this section accordingly. In all cases, the mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence continue to apply to you, and nothing here removes rights you have under them.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, give you reasonable advance notice before they take effect. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

17. General

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a reorganization or transfer of the business. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Platform.

Electronic communications. You agree that we may provide notices and agreements electronically — by posting them on the Platform or sending them to your registered email — and that these satisfy any legal writing requirement.

Force majeure. We are not liable for any delay or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, government or regulatory action, power failures, and network or infrastructure outages. If a force majeure event affects a competition, we may cancel or void it.

No partnership. Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, agency, trust, fiduciary relationship, or joint venture between you and us.
